Manpreet Badal gives nod for land acquisition

Patiala, July 24

A delegation led by Dr Dharamvira Gandhi met Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal to request him for acquisition of 43.192 hectare land at the cost of Rs 78.85 crore for the rail link between Rajpura-Mohali/Chandigarh, which has been already passed by the Ministry of Railways, Government of India.

The Finance Minister gave his approval for the acquisition of land after talking to Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh. This rail link will provide connectivity to people of 10 districts of Malwa and Rajasthan to the capital of Punjab, Chandigarh.

Dr Gandhi thanked the Finance Minister for his support. With the acquisition of land, all desks will be cleared for construction of this important 24-km rail link, which will not only help people to travel cheap, comfortable and safe, but also boost trade and tourism of Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Rajasthan.

Besides Dr Gandhi, the deputation included Dilpreet Dhillon, Anil Goyal, Jasvir Singh Randhawa and Nardev Singh. — TNS
