Patiala, February 26
Officials in the building department of the Patiala MC on Tuesday held a meeting over online clearance of applications for building plans with their counterparts in Chandigarh on Tuesday.
The civic body has been facing issues with the online application system for building plan approval and has not been able to clear even a single plan after implementation. The online system was implemented on January 15.
Officials said the system was supposed to automate end-to-end process from empanelment of architect, online documents submission, online fee payment, architect registration, building plan approval and plinth-level approval to completion/occupation certificate.
An Assistant Town Planner (ATP) in the MC said an MC team discussed problems with senior officials. He said, “Patiala MC does not have a Municipal Town Planner (MTP) who is supposed to clear the building plan, which later gets final approval from the Joint Commissioner.
He said, “All applications for clearing building plans have been awaiting clearance. We will write to the department to allow offline clearance of building plans for the benefit of the public.”
The issues were discussed in the MC’s general House meeting recently.
