MC proposes Rs 75 lakh for Rose Fest, Cong objects
Chandigarh, October 28
The proposal of the local Municipal Corporation (MC) to spend Rs 75 lakh on the next Rose Festival has stirred a controversy as Congress councilors have objected to it. Civic body officials will seek the approval from the MC House on October 30. The festival will be held in February next year. The current proposed amount is Rs 20 lakh more than the previous year.
Devinder Singh Babla, the Leader of the Opposition in the MC House, said the Congress would oppose it as the MC had been facing its worst financial crisis and development works had been stalled due to it.
