Meritorious School at Sector 70 here has put up an unimpressive show in the Punjab School Education Board’s (PSEB) Class XII exams, the results of which were declared today.
As many as 267 students of medical, non-medical and commerce streams had appeared for the examination and none made it to the provisional merit list, having a total of 319 students with a cut-off of 95.33 per cent marks. Last year, four students, two each from commerce and non-medical, had found a place in the provisional merit list.
There are a total of 10 meritorious schools in Punjab wherein students who score 80 per cent and above in Class X exams get admission. The state government provides infrastructure and education free of cost to the students of these boarding schools.
Ritu Sharma, Principal of Meritorious School, Sector 70, said, “Staff shortage may have affected the school’s result. Till first half of the session, we had no mathematics teacher. Similarly, there was no teacher for two other subjects for some time in the school.”
