Minerva Punjab FC on Tuesday signed Nigerian Philip Njoku from Finland Premier Division club FC Inter Turku for the upcoming season.
The 22-year-old midfielder featured for the Black and Blues in the Suomen Cup — Finland’s national competition — and Liiga Cup — the Finnish League Cup — during his time in Finland.
Having excellent pace and close control on the ball with pin-point shooting accuracy makes him an automatic replacement for his fellow African Kassim Aidara, who has been signed by Kolkata giants East Bengal for the upcoming season.
Njoku made 59 appearances for FC Inter Turku and also featured for Åbo IFK, Minerva FC said in a press statement here on Tuesday.
“I am happy to join this team as it is very good. It’s my first time in India and the team has already made me feel like family here,” said Njoku.
