Panchkula, December 3

Haryana Local Bodies Minister Kavita Jain today ordered an inquiry into the construction of a dharamshala at an unauthorised place in Badharni village instead of Khoi village near Kalka in Panchkula district.

An inquiry committee was set up by Jain while chairing a public grievance committee meeting at the Mini-Secretariat.

Khoi resident Preetam Chand had alleged that as the sarpanch was from Badharni village, the dharamshala was constructed there even though there were only two or three families in the village. He said Khoi village had around 50 families and residents of the village could have benefited from the project. He alleged that the sarpanch, in connivance with government officials, got the dharamshala constructed in Badharni, while the project was approved for Khoi village.

The minister set up a three-member committee, comprising Zila Parishad Chief Executive Officer and two non-government officials, to look into the matter and submit a report within 15 days.

On foul smell emanating from poultry forms in the Raipur Rani and Barwala areas, the minister directed the district administration to seal poultry farms which were not following the guidelines.

MLAs Gian Chand Gupta and Latika Sharma had stated that people of these areas were facing problems of flies for the past over seven years.

Gupta stated that a team had also gone to Hyderabad to study measures being taken by poultry farms there and directions had already been issued after presenting the report, but there was no relief for the people.

On a complaint filed by Sector 4 residents regarding nuisance created by people after taking liquor on the streets, the minister said the police should conduct raids at these places.

Eighteen complaints from various parts of the district were taken up today of which eight were solved on spot.
