The jail officials at the Central Jail have seized mobile phones, Sim card and data cable from a jail inmate during a routine checking on Tuesday.
Over the last two days, three jail inmates, including a gangster, have been caught using mobile phones inside the jail premises. In one such incident, head warder Swaranjit Singh caught a jail inmate, Sukhwinder Singh, using a mobile phone. He also confiscated a Sim card and data cable from him.
In a similar case, officials recovered a mobile phone with Sim card from another jail inmate, Malkiat Singh.
The officials of the jail had also recovered a mobile phone from gangster Ravinder Singh, who was involved in the Nabha jailbreak, on Monday. Upon being caught, he tried to break the phone.
All accused have been booked under the Section 52 of the Prisons Act.
Bhupinderjit Singh Virk, Superintendent, Patiala Central Jail, said they were conducting regular checking to nab violators when they confiscated mobile phones and Sim cards from inmates.
