Chandigarh: With tremendous ardor to nurture young minds as they enter the torrent of high energy MUN circuit, Bhavan Vidyalaya organised a training and mock session on Monday. As many as 250 ebullient students from 20 schools across the region participated in the conference, which was conducted by Nikhil Goyal, first secretary general, Bhavan Vidyalaya Chandigarh Model United Nations (BVCMUN). The mock conference saw the young enthusiasts enriching their debating skills. The agenda at hand was “Protection of women and children’s rights in conflict and post-conflict areas”.OC
Oral Hygiene Week
Panchkula: An Oral Hygiene Week was observed at The Gurukul. Activities from poem recitation, advertisement designing, composing jingles, making fancy dress, enacting role plays and skits were organised during one week. A talk on dental awareness was organised at the school by Dr Anuradha Gupta. Gurukulites pledged that they would follow correct oral hygiene practices and maintain good dental health. OC
Talk on save water
Chandigarh: Class VIII students of KB DAV Senior Secondary Public School, Sector 7-B, presented a planned and synchronized assembly showcasing the theme “Save water”. An informative TED talk on the topic, a soul-stirring dance performance highlighting the deplorable condition of water and a skit depicting “What the future will hold for us, if water is wasted” were the highlights of the assembly. Green Initiative Award
Chandigarh: Bhavan Vidyalaya Junior was felicitated with the “Green Initiative of the Year” award by Think Unique Infomedia Pvt Ltd at the Education and Skill India Summit 2018, held in New Delhi. The award ceremony was attended by the school Principal, Soma Mukhopadhyay, and the Eco Club in charge, Saranjeet Kaur. OC
Open house exhibition day
Panchkula: Satluj Academia Open House Exhibition Day was observed at Satluj Public School, Sector 4, on Monday. The highlights of the day were subject-wise exhibition held by various departments, science working models, mathematics lab, 3D smart class, IT and English labs. Specialist areas comprising day boarding and international activities of the AIESEC, French and Cambridge also marked the occasion. Students also presented live shows. OC
Environment Day celebrated
Chandigarh: “Petals”, a unit of Pandit Mohan Lal SD Public School, Sector-32C, celebrated Environment Day on Monday. Students brought saplings, which they had germinated, and planted these in soil. They learnt about the importance of healthy and clean environment. Children were also given tree cutouts with the ‘Save trees’ slogan. OC
Yellow Day celebrations
Chandigarh: Shishu Niketan Public School, Sector 43-A, organised Yellow Day celebrations for nursery students on Monday. Classes were decorated with yellow coloured material. Various activities, including paper tearing and vegetable printing, were held on the occasion to enable students learn in a better way. Children brought yellow coloured food, which they relished. OC
Award ceremony at DAV
Mohali: An award ceremony was organised at DAV School, Mohali, for meritorious students, who brought laurels for the institution in the AISSE and AISSCE board examination in the 2017-18 session. All students, who scored above 90 per cent, were awarded at the ceremony held on the school premises. OC
No bag day at AKSIPS
Kharar: AKSIPS-125 Smart School, Greater Mohali, celebrated “No bag day”. A plethora of activities and competitions, including rally on Earth Day, slogan writing competition and poster making activity, was organised on the occasion. Sports dance and music activities added a charm to the celebrations. OC
World Population Day
Chandigarh: A paper reading activity was organised for Class IV students of St Joseph’s Senior Secondary School, Sector 44-D, on the “World population day”. The young, energetic and persuasive orators spoke on this year’s theme “Family planning is a human right”. OC
Poster-making contest
Chandigarh: A poster making competition on the topic “World Population Day’ was organised for Class VII students of AKSIPS Smart School, Sector 41. Children enthusiastically presented colourful posters with meaningful slogans on the occasion. An inter-class declamation on the topic “Advantages of having small family” was also organised for Class VIII students. OC
Green Day celebrations
Chandigarh: Green Day celebrations were held at Nav Bal Niketan Smart School, Sector 29-B. Students of Montessori wing came dressed in green attire and also brought green food in their lunch boxes. Green salad-making, face-painting and hand-painting competitions were organised for higher classes. A tree plantation drive was the highlight of the day. OC
