Patiala: The KIIT School of Law, Odisha, won the first position in the 7th National Moot Court Competition at Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law. A total of 64 teams participated in the competition. The MNLU, Mumbai, were the runner-up. Nikitha Susan Paulson of the National University of Advanced Legal Studies, Kochi, won the best speaker award,for which he was given a cash prize of Rs 10,000. Karann Damani, School of Law, Christ College, Bengaluru, was adjudged the best researcher. The written submission of of the School of Law, UPES, Dehradun, was adjudged as the best memorial. The competition was judged by eminent judges and academics. The final rounds were judged by Vijay Aggarwal, senior attorney, Advaita Legal; Dr Bidhyadhar Majhi, Director, Competition Commission of India; and Prof Anand Pawar, Dean, RGNUL.
Students excel in exams
Students of the Rayat-Bahra group, Patiala, excelled in the examinations conducted by the Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University (MRSPTU). Pooja scored 94 per cent marks in BTech (first semester). Aasia got 92.9 per cent in B Pharmacy (third semester) while Shivangi Tiwari scored 92.1 per cent marks in B Pharmacy (third semester). Simranjeet Kaur got 91.9 per cent in BCA (first semester), Narinder Pal scored 91.2 per cent in BTech (first semester), Naresh Sharma got 89.2 per cent in BTech (ME), third semester. Mandeep Singh secured 88.7 per cent marks in BCA (third semester). Pawan Kumar scored 88.5 per cent marks in BTech (ME), third semester. Sumeet Sharma bagged 83.6 per cent marks in MTech (CSE), third semester. Gurvinder Singh Bahra, chairman of the Rayat Bahra Group of Institutions, congratulated the students and their parents.
DAV welcomes new principal
DAV School, Patiala, welcomed Vivek Tiwari as its new principal amidst greetings. Vivek Tiwari has served as an English teacher at DAV School, Guru Har Sahai. Tiwari has served as a principal at Satya Bharti Adarsh School, Jagraon. Vivek Tiwari, during his address, expressed his happiness at joining the DAV institution and assured his ardent desire to strive hard for the continuous progress of the school.
Discussion on immigration
Malwa Research Centre, Patiala, organised a discussion on immigration at the Language Department building in Patiala. Scholars from all over Punjab and from abroad participated in the discussion. Sawraj Singh, a well-known scholar, presided over the function. Gurbachan Singh, editor of Desh Punjab, was the main speaker. Tejwant Singh Maan, president of Kendri Likhari Sabha (Sekhon), was the main commentator. Bhupinder Singh Malhi from Canada, BS Rattan, Amarjit Singh Varaich and Bawa Singh also participated in the discussion. Concluding the discussion, Sawraj Singh said immigration started during the British occupation, leading to the enslavement of Punjab and was going to end in a tragedy. TNS
