Chandigarh, December 15

MP Kirron Kher laid the foundation stones of an open air theatre and a green park in Sector 48 here today.

The projects would cost Rs 481.05 lakh and will be carried out under the AMRUT scheme.

Local councillor Davesh Moudgil said the green park coming up on 7.34 acres would have 1.76 km footpath and 1,596 sq metre parking area for about 70 cars. He said the green park would be the best in the city. The open air theatre would have a seating capacity of 1,000, which was the highest for any such facility in the city, he added.

Earlier, Kher said the open air theatre would help local artistes showcase their talent and brush up their acting skills. Mayor Asha Kumari Jaswal said the MCwas developing green parks better than the earlier ones. She requested area residents to keep the parks clean as it was their own property. —TNS
