Chandigarh, August 3
An entrancing spell of jugalbandi by Grammy Award winner Pandit Vishwa Mohan Bhatt on mohan veena and his disciple son Pandit Salil Bhatt with Pandit Ram Kumar on tabla marked the ceremonial dedication of new revamped auditorium to the memory of art promoter and classical Tandav dance maestro Guru ML Koser by Pracheen Kala Kendra here on Friday. Later, kendra chairman SK Monga IAS ( retd), registrar, Dr Shobha Koser, and secretary Sajal Koser honoured the maestros as also flautist Chetan Joshi and vocalist Sarthi Chatterjee.
The musical delight permeated the auditorium as Pandit Vishwa Mohan and Salil Bhatt unfolded the melodic and festive character raga bihag through an alaap, jod alaap, jod jhalla and gats (compositions) in slow and later fast tempo as Ram Kumar Mishar explored the rhythmic axis on tabla to embellish the recital.
Both maestros engaged in a rare jugalbandi on vocal rendition of a composition Saajan morrey ghar aye by Pandit Vishwa Mohan and Salil on satvik veena.
The concert attained an inevitable climax as on request SNA awardee Kathak guru Shobha Koser brought alive the expressive exposition of emotions commensurate with thumri Kaise guzarun saari raat sung to perfection by Pandit Bhatt in raga jog and replicated by Salil Bhatt on satvik veena.
