Local paddler Ananya Thakur, who is ranked 43 in the junior girls’ category, went down against Tejal Kamble of Maharashtra in the senior category final on the concluding day of the 4th 11SPORTS Inter-School National Table Tennis Championship, on Sunday. Ananya lost the first game 10-12, but she was quick to return with an 11-6 win in the next game. Tejal played brilliantly in the next two games to stun Ananya 3-11 6-11 for the gold medal.
Earlier, in the semis, Ananya faced resistance from Rajasthan's Nandini Nagori. She won first two games 11-7 11-4, however Nandini returned back 7-11 10-12 to level the score.
In a neck to neck final game, Ananya managed to register a 12-10 win to cement her berth in the title clash.
