A three-member team of the Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology, Patiala, clinched the top position in a 24-hour hackathon held at Sardar Patel Institute of Technology, Mumbai.
In all, 38 teams from various parts of the country had participated in the hackathon.
The winning team comprised Tanmay Bhatnagar, Tathagat Thapliyal and Ansh Gujral (third year students). They had earlier bagged the second position at the Saturnalia Hackathon at the Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology.
For the 24-hour hackathon, 175 teams from 15 cities had registered and 38 were shortlisted for participating in the competition held on January 5-6.
A hackathon is a time-bound competition wherein teams have to prepare a product centered on technology such as machine learning, blockchain and internet of things. After time expires, a selected few teams get to pitch their product to the judges.
The theme of this hackathon was blockchain. Teams had to design their product on blockchain and use XinFin’s platform to build the same. The winning team built ‘CropBuddy’, a product which helps farmers make sure that their produce reaches the destination safely and in time.
“Winning the hackathon will be a boost for my career. Such events teach you how to make the most of your time,” says Tanmay Bhatnagar.
