TFT fest: Play on Partition marks Day 2

The 14th edition of the 30-day drama festival of The Theatre for Theatre (TFT) began at the Navrang Theatre, Bal Bhavan, here on Tuesday.

On Day 2, the Rang Parivartan, Gurugram, presented a play, ‘Rishton Ka Kya Rakhein Naam’, under the direction of Mahesh Vashishta.

Based on the legendary Urdu writer Saadat Hasan Manto’s story, ‘Toba Tek Singh’, the Hindi play chronicled the anguish and agony of the innocent people across the border during the Partition. The play, through its characters, who have lost their mental balance and are in mental asylum, portrays the tragedy born of inhuman political decision.

Earlier, as a part of the TFT festival, a Ru-ba-ru session was conducted with academician and actor-director Dr Jaspal Deol, Head of the Department of Theatre and Television, Punjabi University, Patiala. Besides, a street play, ‘Nei Saver’, was staged by student artistes of Suchetak Rangmanch School of Acting, Mohali, at the Sector 17 Plaza here. — OC
