Musical strains continued unabated during the ongoing 49th Bhaskar Rao Nritya and Sangeet Sammelan organised by the Pracheen Kala Kendra at Tagore Theatre on Friday.

The highlight of the evening remained an engaging tabla ‘jugalbandi’ by acclaimed tabla wizard Pandit Ram Kumar Mishra and his prodigious son and disciple Rahul Mishra.

Later, Pandit Soumitra Lahiri took the centre stage and unfolded the complex ‘Malgunji raga’ through an ‘alaap’, ‘jod’ and ‘jhalla’ before presenting three compositions in slow, medium and fast tempo. Tabla maestro Tanmoy Bose articulated the melody meter.
