Zirakpur, November 11
A youth riding motorcycle was killed while three others riding pillion sustained injuries when their bike was allegedly hit by a car, near Best Price, at Zirakpur, on Sunday. The deceased has been identified as Robin, a resident of the Moga district.
The complainant, Sunil, a resident of Dera Bassi, told the police that he along with his friend Robin had gone to Zirakpur for some work. In the meantime, one of Sunil’s friends Gurbaksh Singh, a resident of Dera Bassi, called him and asked to pick him up.
The complainant stated that when they were returning on their motorbike, a car heading in the same direction hit their two-wheeler from the rear end.
The deceased, Robin, who was driving bike, fell and banged his head on the road. While three others riding pillion also sustained injuries. All of them were rushed to the GMCH-32, Chandigarh, where Robin succumbed to his injuries later, the police said. Acting on Sunil’s statement, the police have registered a case against an unidentified car driver.
In the second incident, Gaurav, a resident of Trivedi Camp, Dera Bassi, died after his bike was hit by a car, near Dhakoli flyover. The police said the deceased along with his brother Deepak was heading towards Zirakpur when their bike was allegedly hit by a car. Gaurav died on the spot, the police added. A case has been registered at the Dhakoli police station. — OC
