In its stride towards digitalisation, Panjab University (PU) is all set to implement the new examination charter, to make all exam-related related queries and procedures accessible and transparent to its students, teachers and research scholars.
PU’s Controller of Examination, Parvinder Singh, has assured that the university’s website shall be duly updated with information ranging from issuing degrees and verification of transcripts/certificates to release date of date sheets and fee-defaulter cases. While addressing the press today, he said the university had set a deadline for exam-associated grievances.
“Not just the deadline, we have also fixed responsibility for many such issues, appointing persons from the ranks of Deputy Registrar of Examination (DRE) and Assistant Registrar of Examinations (ARE) for the said task,” he said.
The charter states eligibility confirmation of regular and private students will be done in the same day.
While the admit card will be issued by the DRE 7 days prior to the examination, clearance of RLL cases (result late due to lower examination), RLA case (result late due to missing awards), fee defaulter cases and notification of result cancellation will be done in two days.
“Verification of transcripts/certificates will be done in two weeks. In the past two years, we have received more than 20,000 requests of students for transcripts. It is a lengthy process, but we will speed it up this time,” said Singh.
According to the examination charter, DMC will be issued in one week (or 7 working days) from the declaration of main result; re-issue of DMC will be done in three working days from the receipt of complete application form; provisional degree will be issued within two working days from the receipt of the complete application form; and correction of name will be done within four working days from the receipt of correction slip from the R&S branch.
Along with student outreach, including EGMS for grievance monitoring, SMS and e-mail services and alerts on PU website, the university has a live notice board online to display PhD notifications.
It also has an all-time VPN (Virtual Private Networking). Even admit card, examination forms (UG & PG), re-evaluation, internal assessment, practical awards, unique examination portal and NAD has been made available online.
