Obsolete drainage system leads to waterlogging outside the Drug, Food and Chemical Testing Laboratory, Kharar.

Situated in the Civil Hospital Complex, the laboratory was constructed at crores of rupees two years ago. Samples of food items from all over Punjab are brought here for testing.

The head office of the Food and Drug Administration is also located in the complex. Licenses to chemists are also issued here.

The drainage system was constructed around five decades ago for the Civil Hospital and a family planning welfare centre. Now the complex has the Drug, Food and Chemical Testing Laboratory, office of the Chemical Examiner and a drug warehouse.

SMO Dr Surinder Singh said the issue had been brought to the notice of the engineering wing of the Punjab Health Systems.
