Old rivalry led to group clash at Mauli Jagran

The clash at Mauli Jagran reported between two groups in which around four gunshots were fired was the fallout of an old rivalry. Four gunshots were fired during the clash by the accused who have several cases registered against them in Panchkula. No arrests have been made in the case so far.

The police said the accused had an old rivalry with Kallu. It was his sister’s wedding at a community centre in Vikas Nagar, Mauli Jagran, on Sunday night. The accused came to know about this and reached Mauli village to settle scores.

The accused could not find Kallu, but they entered into an altercation with a group of youth known to Kallu, leading to a clash. The accused thrashed the victims and fired at them with a pistol assumed to be country-made.

Vikas, Sachin and Ravi suffered bullet injuries and were and admitted to the Government Medical College and Hospital, (GMCH), Sector 32.

The accused who were carrying swords and other sharp weapons escaped from the spot brandishing the same.

The police said one of the victims was hit on the arm while another was shot on the head.

DSP (East) Satish Kumar said the main accused in the case had been identified and raids were being conducted to nab them.

“The accused who have been identified have multiple cases registered against them in Panchkula,” the DSP said.

The DSP said around eight persons had been identified. “We can’t reveal their names since they are yet to be arrested,” he said.

A case under Sections 147 (punishment for rioting), 148 (rioting armed with deadly weapon), 149 (every member of unlawful assembly guilty of offence committed in prosecution of common object), 307 (attempt to murder) of the IPC and Sections 25/27/59 of the Arms Act has been registered against the accused at the Mauli Jagran police station.

The case
