Only 115 residents availed themselves of the online appointment facility introduced at the office of the Registering and Licensing Authority in Sector 17 here today.
Besides applicants who had booked appointment online, around 100 were issued tokens at the office. While those came with the prior online appointment got their works done without delay, there were others who were unaware of the launch of the new system and returned disappointed.
Before the launch of the online appointment system, about 700 people on an average used to visit the office for various types of works.
Yuvraj Arora, a resident of Sector 18, said he was told to come with an appointment next day. He said the department should have given more time before launching the facility.
The RLA has opened six counters for driving licences and five for RCs.
All slots booked for today
Though the RLA received a lukewarm response on the day online appointment facility came into being, the second day is all set to see an overwhelming response. While 241 people have booked slots for driving licence, 234 have got online appointment for registration certificates. Applicants can log on to www.chdtransport.gov.in or call Chandigarh Helpline Number (1860-180-2067) to book an appointment at the RLA office in Sector 17. They can book an appointment at the RLA office also.
