OPD timings changed
Chandigarh: The OPD of Government Multi-Specialty Hospital, Sector 16, Chandigarh, and its allied dispensaries, including AYUSH dispensaries, the Civil Hospital, Mani Majra, the Civil Hospital, Sector 22, and the Civil Hospital, Sector 45, except the ESI, Sector 29, and the ESI, Sector 23, the UT Secretariat and the Punjab and Haryana High Court dispensaries will remain open from 8 am to 2 pm from April 16 to October 15.
Start-up centre launched
Panchkula: The Department of Higher Education in association with the Start-up Accelerator Chamber of Commerce (SACC) launched its first Start-up Incubator-cum-Centre of Excellence of Haryana at Government Post Graduate College, Sector 1, Panchkula, on Tuesday. Haryana Education Minister Ram Bilas Sharma inaugurated the centre. The centre will foster entrepreneurship at all levels among aspiring youth of Haryana. The centre will primarily cater to four government colleges falling in the district - Government Post Graduate College, Sector 1, Panchkula; Government Post Graduate College, Sector 14, Panchkula; Government College, Barwala; and Government College, Kalka. Mohali: Techno-Pharm, an industry and academia interaction of industrial experts with students as part of the Pharma Placement Fortnight for pharmacy students from various campuses of the Rayat Bahra Group, kicked off on Tuesday at the Rayat Bahra University campus. The programme was organised under the supervision of Pharma Vertical. A panel discussion on "Pharmaceutical Skill & Entrepreneurship: Emerging Opportunities for Pharma Professionals" was organised where panelists interacted with students and apprised them of the emerging opportunities in pharmacy profession. PGI to hire 59 doctors
Chandigarh: The Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) is going to hire 59 more doctors to curb the growing rush of patients. A notification in this regard has been issued by the institute. Over 11,000 patients visit the OPD each day. At present, 1,700 doctors are working in the PGIMER. TNS
Man held with pistol in Mohali
Mohali: The Mohali police arrested a person with a country-made pistol while his accomplice managed to dodge the police on Tuesday. The accused, identified as Amandeep Singh from Patton village in Sohana, has been nabbed following a tip-off. His accomplice Jassi Matran managed to give a slip to the police. The police said both were intercepted on Airport Road. “We recovered a country-made pistol from Amandeep, who claimed that cartridges of the pistol were with Jassi Matran,” said the police. Amandeep Singh is already facing a criminal case, registered at the Sohana Police Station, here, said the police. Later, the accused was produced before a local court, which has sent him to two-day police remand. TNS
Animal welfare discussed
Chandigarh: Mohan Singh Ahluwalia, member of the Animal Welfare Board of India, discussed various issues related to the welfare of animals in Chandigarh at a meeting with senior officials of the Administration at the UT Guest House on Tuesday. Rajiv Gupta, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Chandigarh; Capt Karnail Singh, Director, Animal Husbandry, Chandigarh, were present on the occasion. Ahluwalia said more space for the SPCA shelter was required.
