Chandigarh: The second day of the undergraduate orientation programme of the PEC University of Technology focused on introducing new entrants to various departments of the university. An informative session on innovation and STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) was held. Following this, insightful presentations were given by heads of various departments and centres.
Cleanliness drive
Chandigarh: A cleanliness drive to promote the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan was held at the MCM DAV College for Women, Sector 36, on Wednesday. An NSS induction programme was organised and a Swachh Bharat pledge was taken by more than 200 students and faculty members. Students pledged to devote at least 120 hours per year to voluntary work. To observe the Swachh Bharat Pakhwara-2017 as per directions of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, the college has planned a slew of activities, beginning August 1. These include cleanliness drives in the college, surroundings and adopted Badheri village. Poster-making and slogan-writing activities will also be organised to spread the need for cleanliness among students.
MCom: General pool seats filled
Chandigarh: The first round of the centralised counselling for admission to MCom in city colleges under the general pool was completed at the GCCBA-50 on Wednesday. The closing rank at the GGDSD-32 in the general category was 30 with a cut-off of 90.37 per cent followed by the GCCBA-50 where the closing rank was 52 with a cut-off of 87.77 per cent. Other seats in the reserved, sports and defence categories were also filled. TNS
