Over 200 delegates attend CME on transfusion medicine

A national-level CME-cum-workshop on transfusion medicine was organised by the Department of Transfusion Medicine, Government Medical College, here on Tuesday in collaboration with the State Blood Transfusion Council with theme of “Transfusion practices updates”, which was awarded “four credit hours” by the Punjab Medical Council.

Dr Manpreet Chhatwal, Additional Project Director, Punjab State AIDS Control Society, was the chief guest on the occasion. She appreciated the department for organising the CME and also released a souvenir prepared by the Department of Transfusion Medicine.

Dr BS Sidhu, Principal, Government Medical College, also addressed the audience.

Dr Kanchan Bhardwaj, organising chairperson and Head of the Department of Transfusion Medicine, said over 200 delegates, including eminent experts in this field, participated in the CME-cum-workshop.

Dr Kanchan said transfusion medicine was a rapidly evolving discipline. The aim was to improve day-to-day transfusion practices so that quality blood transfusion services could be provided to patients.

Dr Vijay Bodal, representative, Punjab Medical Council, Dr Amarjit Kaur, Professor and Head, Blood Bank, DMC, Ludhiana, Dr Bharat Singh, representative, National Blood Transfusion Council, Dr Sukhvinder Singh, Joint Director, Blood Safety, PSACS, Dr Neeraja Sharma, Professor and Head, Blood Bank, Government Medical College, Amritsar, Dr Ravneet Kaur, Professor and Head, Blood Bank, Government Medical College, Chandigarh, Dr RN Maharishi, Dr Kulbir Kaur, Dirctor-Principal, PIMS, Jalandhar, Dr HK Dhawan,  Dr Kshitiza, Dr Tanvi, Dr Harjot Kaur, Dr Aikaj Jindal, Dr Rekha Hans, Dr Sonia Gupta and Dr HS Lamba also participated in the CME.

Dr Kusum Thakur, organising secretary, CME, Dr Rajni Bassi, organising secretary, workshop, and Dr Jaspreet Kaur from transfusion medicine coordinated the programme. 

Posters related to transfusion medicine were also displayed on the occasion.
