Chandigarh, January 2
A Sector 16 resident has been booked by the Chandigarh Police after his pet dog reportedly bit his neighbour on January 1.
According to the police, the victim, Varun, a resident of Sector 16, reported that a dog owned by Aman, who resides near his house, bit him. The victim got injured and was admitted to Government Multi-Specialty Hospital, Sector 16.
The police were informed about the incident following which a case under Section 289 (negligent conduct with respect to animal) of the IPC was registered. Under Section 289, a dog owner can be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to six months or with a fine which may extend to Rs 1,000 or with both. — TNS
