UT Adviser Manoj Kumar Parida has ordered converting Panchayat Bhawan in Sector 18 here as the second UT Guest House. The aim is to ensure optimum utilisation of the potential of the site/premises.
An inspection of the site was conducted by the Adviser and senior UT officials. During the inspection, it was observed that Panchayat Bhawan is situated at a prime location in the city and the site should be maintained/managed properly.
It was decided that Panchayat Bhawan may be renovated and remodelled on the pattern of the UT Guest House in Sector 6.
It was stressed that both the halls of Panchayat Bhawan may be renovated with latest infrastructure, and rooms may be upgraded as deluxe rooms with latest facilities. Kitchen and dining areas will also be renovated and provided with quality infrastructure, furniture and equipment, which could be outsourced at a later stage.
Landscaping of the entire vacant space may be carried out to spruce up the site/premises.
It was also discussed that the name of the building may also be changed to the UT Guest House, Sector 18.
The Department of Hospitality will hand over the vacant premises to the Engineering Department by December 15.
The Secretary, Hospitality, will chalk out a plan to run the guest house with additional staff, if any. However, the existing permanent staff will not be disturbed.
The official will also examine the modalities of the management, outsourcing of the kitchen, facilities to be provided, deposition of revenue collected, source of salary for the staff etc.
The Department of Urban Planning and Architecture will finalise the process of preparation of drawings in consultation with the Engineering Department.
The Secretary, Hospitality, will be the nodal officer for the management of the project.
