Chhabra (53), who had joined the NSUI in 1986, will replace 80-year-old Behl, who was holding the post for the last 14 years.

For the post of CTCC President, along with Chhabra, party vice-president Pawan Sharma, former Mayor Ravinder Pal Singh Paali and former deputy mayor HS Lucky, were also in the race.

On the occasion, former MP Pawan Kumar Bansal said, “Chhabra is a hardworking Congress worker and I have full faith that he will take along all party workers.”

Chhabra, along with sitting Congress councillors, had played a crucial role in the party’s recent victory in the mayoral election in which the party won the post of mayor as well deputy mayor despite adverse circumstances.
