Sahil Mittal, who was among the protesters, said, “The school had earlier failed 35 students of one section in economics subject. After that a compartment exam was held and only two students could pass it. The school authorities refused to show us the answer sheets. After the protest, another list was put up wherein the school had passed two more students.”

The parents and students also raised slogans against Education Department officials and the school and demanded grace marks for students, which is against the UT policy. The policy of grace marks was revoked in the beginning of the session.

The school principal submitted a report in this regard to the District Education Officer today.

As many as 77 students of the school received compartment in humanities stream. This year, more than 5,000 students had failed in Classes IX and XI as no grace marks were allotted to the students.

The Education Department had conducted a retest for students after one month. As many as 2,138 students in Class XI received compartment and appeared for a retest.

District Education Officer Anujit Kaur said, “Even after getting a second chance, the students failed to clear the exam. This was the first time we gave a second chance to children for improvement. We had checked the copies again and nothing came out of it. The parents are now blackmailing us, which is highly unjustifiable. They should be strict towards children.”
