Parul shines in tennis meet

Chandigarh: Patiala girl Parul Gupta and Jafreen Shaik of Hyderabad won the women’s doubles silver in the Slovenia Deaf Open Tennis Championship. Aurelie Coudon and Phoebe Suthers beat the Indian pair 6-0 6-1 to win the final. Parul-Jafreen defeated Jana Janosikova-Stasa Srbulovic 6-0 6-3 to set up the title clash. In the singles category, Parul finished fourth.

Cricket trials today

Chandigarh: The Chandigarh Cricket Association, affiliated to Haryana, will organise trials to select the U-19 team for the Haryana Inter-District Cricket Tournament at Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 19, on May 28 (7am). The trials to select the U-14 team will be held on May 31 (7am) at the same venue. Players are advised to appear in trials in white kits.

Atray new VP of UT Cricket Assn  

Chandigarh: Coming to act after 2016, the UT Cricket Association has appointed Vivek Atray, former IAS , as the senior vice-president of the association. He took over the charge from Maj Som Dutt. It was also decided that the association will host a T-20 Corporate Cup next month. According to Sachin Lohtiya, spokesperson for the association, the final of this championship will be held in July.  TNS
