PDA wants people to submit Google image of their sites

The Patiala Urban Planning and Development Authority (PDA), awaiting applications from colonisers and plot holders in illegal colonies under its jurisdiction, wants applicants to submit Google image of their sites. Using technology for the purpose of checking before field visits, officials in the PDA said the process would help identify the date of establishment and development on the site.

This is after the latest policy for regularisation of colonies and plots was notified by the Ministry of Local Bodies in October.

The officials in the PDA said they had identified over 750 illegal colonies in all areas under the authority’s jurisdiction in Patiala, Sangrur, Barnala and Fatehgarh Sahib.

“Over 750 illegal colonies all over the PDA’s jurisdiction were identified. Of these, our staff designated to assist people for regularisation has received only one application for a colony. We want people to approach us on time for the regularisation of their colonies,” said Harpreet Singh Sudan, Chief Administrator of the PDA.

He said the PDA had already received over 300 applications for regularisation of plots in the colonies. He said colonisers and plot holders were required to submit the Google image of their plots and colony sites.

“This will help us identify the location of the property from the office itself. We will also check the recent development on the land with the help of Google maps from the office before field visits. Moreover, the establishment dates, including installation of roads and construction of buildings at the site, will be determined from the Google image and the property holder will be taxed accordingly,” Sudan said.

The Chief Administrator said the process of regularisation of properties was being followed according to the notified policy.
