Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research’s director received the Padma Shri on Saturday for his extraordinary medical services.

President of India Ram Nath Kovind awarded the Padma Shri to Dr Jagat Ram in recognition for his contribution in providing charitable medical services to cataract patients and his new surgical techniques for children.

His globally-recognised surgical procedures especially helped children with congenital cataract anomalies that were considered incurable in the past.
