PGI signs agreement with AFMS to boost research

An MoU was signed between the PGIMER, Chandigarh, and the Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS) today.

PGI Director Prof Jagat Ram, Dean (Academics) Prof Arvind Rajwanshi, Dean (Research) Prof GD Puri and PGI Financial Adviser Kumar Abhay were present on the occasion.

Maj Gen (Dr) Sharad Bhatnagar, Additional Director General, Medical Research, Brig (Dr) RDS Ahluwalia, Dean and Deputy Commandant, and Col (Dr) Sanat Kumar Khanna represented the AFMS.

On behalf of the PGI, the MoU was signed by Prof Jagat Ram, while on behalf of the Director General, AFMS, the MoU was signed by Maj Gen Bhatnagar.

According to the Preamble, the collaborative research programs will be of considerable mutual benefit.

The purpose is to implement cooperative and collaborative activities, which will address multidisciplinary scientific, technological and educational problems of relevance to the country.

The areas of cooperation will include faculty exchange programme, joint research projects and joint academic activities and events between the PGIMER and the AFMS.

The MoU will be valid initially for a period of five years and the same will be extendable on the basis of mutual consent.
