Plant saplings for a better future: DSW
Chandigarh, June 6
World Environment Day was observed with enthusiasm at Panjab University, Chandigarh.
A plantation drive was started today and it would continue for the next few days, covering all hostels of Panjab University. Inmates and staff of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel Hall (Boys Hostel No. 4), Laxmi Bai Hall (Girls Hostel No. 2), and Sarojini Hall (Girls Hostel No. 3) planted saplings, some of which were donated by the Horticulture Department.
Prof Emanual Nahar and Prof Neena Capilash, Deans, Student Welfare, were present, along with the wardens of the hostels.
Prof Nahar said: “The message of the day is that trees are the only gift to be passed on to the future generations.” The DSW gave an appreciation certificate to Raj Devinder Singh for his zeal and enthusiasm towards plantation throughout the year. They also planted and adopted the plants with hostel residents. — TNS
