Professor Satwinder Singh Marwaha took over as the 25th chairman of the Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB) here on Saturday. He is the first scientist to be appointed as the chairman of the board since its inception. Before joining as the PPCB chairman, he was working as Dean (Services), Central University, Bathinda.
The professor received his doctorate in microbiology from Punjab Agriculture University, Ludhiana. He served as the head of the Biotechnology Department, Punjabi University, and was the youngest professor of the varsity.
After taking charge, the PPCB chairman appealed to the industry of Punjab to install environment-friendly equipment.
