Prospectus released
Patiala: Prospectus of vocational courses for session 2017-18 running under Deen Dyal Upadhyaya Kaushal Kendra at Khalsa College, Patiala, was released by Dr Gurdip Singh Batra on the college campus here. Dr Batra, Dean Academics, Punjabi University, Patiala, said the college offers diverse courses related to general, professional and vocational courses running successfully to make students confront myriad challenges of life. Principal Dharminder Singh Ubha said four subjects - BVoc; Food Processing and Engineering, Software Development, Agriculture and Automobiles - are running successfully at the college. He said two Advance Diplomas in Auto Electricals & Electronics and Green House Technology are also being taught on the campus. Admission for these courses is starting in the first week of June, 2017. Prospectus of vocational courses is available on college campus and online forms are getting submitted.
Student brings laurels
Aveksha Kapoor, a student of BE CSE from Thapar University, has successfully presented her research work on state-of-the-art domain related to web crawling at an international conference on Collaboration and Internet Computing (CIC) in Pittsburgh, US. Kapoor is thankful to mentor Vinay Arora, Assistant Professor, CSED, Thapar University (TU), for his fruitful guidelines. The prompt support from Dr Prakash Gopalan, Director, TU, Dr Rajender Kaler, Deputy Director, TU, and Dr Maninder Singh HOD, CSED, TU, proved worthy for Kapoor, who was the solo representative from India and only undergrad among the participants primarily from Carneige Mellon University, Washington University and several other institutions around the world. Workshop on career prospects
The Society for Promotion of Quality Education for Poor and Meritorious Students of Punjab and Rayat-Bahra, Ropar campus, organised an inte-active session on ‘Career prospects in emerging technologies’ on Wednesday. The session was attended by more than 500 meritorious school students and their parents. The Rayat-Bahra Group is launching the new-age programmes in collaboration with leading MNCs Google, IBM and Siemens. Gagandeep Singh Nagra, Country Manager, Android Enterprise at Google, while addressing the students said the students pursuing BTech in computer sciences and MBA in digital marketing would get ample opportunity to gain hands on experience with Google’s educational tools and learn about innovative instructional strategies.
