Protesters gherao mall in Mohali

High drama was witnessed at a mall located alongside the Mohali-Kharar highway when around 40 members of a particular community today held a protest against the release of “Padmaavat” in its multiplexes tomorrow.
Seeing the agitating members, the management of the mall immediately shut the main entrance of the complex and informed the police.
The protesters, who gheraoed the main entrance of the mall, raised slogans and said they would not allow the screennig of the movie in the mall. The area SDM and DSP immediately reached the spot and pacified the protesters.
According to sources, the protesters also objected to the pasting of posters of the movie at the mall. A senior official of the mall management said a memorandum given by the protesters to administrative and police officials had reached the higher authorities.
“We will adhere to whatever directions we get from the administration. So far, we have not got any directions regarding the movie; so it will run as per schedule,” the official said. Later, the protesters reached the Mohali DAC Complex at Sector 76 and held a protest in front of the DC’s office.
