Chandigarh, August 30
The provisional list of nominations for office-bearers of the PUCSC was announced by the office of Dean Students Welfare here today.
For the post of president, 28 candidates have been nominated, out of which six are from the UIET, and three each are from the Department of Laws, UIAMS, and UILS. From the UIET, Kawalpreet Singh, NSUI’s Nikhil Narmeta, Manjeet Singh, Rohit Sharma, Akhil Goura and Shivam Sharma are in the fray, while from the UIAMS, Mahavir Sharma, Ankit Bindra and Sachin will be contesting for the post. Ajay Nain, Jaspreet Kaur, ABVP’s Paras Rattan are contesting from the Department of Laws, and Gaurav Duhan, Kumar Gautam and Pravesh Bishnoi are from the UILS. SOI’s Chetan from the Department of Urdu and SFS’s Priya Garg of the Department of Chemistry will also be seen fighting it out for the post that has Taniya Bhatti of Centre for Public Health, Sachin from Biophysics, Nirmal Singh from Economics, Manmehar Kaur of Biotechnology in the fray.
For the post of vice-president, 26 students have filed their nominations and a maximum of them are from the Department of Laws, including Ajay Nain, Jaspreet Kaur, Mannat Nainta and SFI candidate Shabana Ansari. Divya Chopra, Sachin and Shubham Sewal are from the UIAMS and Rahul Kumar and Chinmey Abbhi are from the Anthropology Department and Gagandeep Singh and Rahul Sharma are from the UIPS.
For the post of secretary, 32 nominations were received and five each were from the Department of Laws, UIAMS, and UIET. Mahavir Sharma, Ankit Bindra, Sachin, Simran Sood and Kritika Rana from the UIAMS, Ajay Nain, Jaspreet Kaur, Mannat Nainta, Benazir Khurshid and Sachin Singhal from the Department of Laws and Parth Khullar, Sukhchain Singh, Tegbir Singh, Rohit Sharma, and Shivam Sharma are from the UIET. Also, 28 nominations have been received for the post of joint secretary, where four are from the UIAMS, including Divya Chopra, Sachin, Shubham Sewal and Priya Rani and four — Ajay Nain, Jaspreet Kaur, Mannat Nainta and Shabana Ansari — from Department of Laws. After withdrawal, the final list of candidates will be announced tomorrow. — TNS
