Patiala, February 12
The Pepsu Road Transport Corporation (PRTC) rolls out its second lot of 25 self-owned buses out of total 100 to replace its buses that have outlived their life. With this, a total of 50 buses have come on road as the first 25 buses were flagged off by Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh about a month ago.
PRTC chairman KK Sharma flagged off these buses today. In order to improve its fleet, the PRTC had planned to add 150 new km-scheme buses and 100 buses of its own by taking a bank loan as they had not added any km-scheme bus last year. While 88 self-owned buses of the PRTC have outlived their life, as many as 70 km-scheme buses too needed replacement. The PRTC has taken a loan of Rs 18 crore from the bank and remaining Rs 7 crore has been used from the PRTC funds.
