Pepsu Road Transport Corporation (PRTC) is all set to add 100 new ordinary buses to its existing fleet keeping in view the need for expanding its services. To date, the PRTC is running a fleet of 1,073 buses.
The new buses will replace the existing buses that have outlived their life. The move to replace the old buses will help save a lot of money as the maintenance of old buses was adding burden to the PRTC. Secondly, it will help Pepsu Road Transport Corporation in covering the missing mileage.
Talking to Chandigarh Tribune, Manjit Singh Narang, managing director of the PRTC, said: “We are waiting for the approval from the government for the new 100 ordinary buses. As soon as we get the nod, the buses will be added to our fleet.”
For the first time, the corporation will also add new 20 HVAC buses under the KM scheme. These buses will be owned by the corporation. Earlier, buses under the KM scheme were owned by private players.
