PU-CET toppers

Panjab University today announced the results for the Common Entrance Test (CET)-2019 which was held on April 30.

The test was for admission to BPharmacy and BSc (Hons) in the PU. In PCB (physics chemistry biology) 4,339 candidates appeared and 3,753 have qualified. Of 4,238 candidates, which appeared for PCM (physics chemistry maths), 3,113 have qualified. In maths, out of 4,748, 3,486 have qualified, said Dr Parvinder Singh, Controller of Examination. “We have released the results before the deadline given to us and will be soliciting applications for the courses,” said he.

In the PCB group, Lakshit Jindal bagged a score of 308.50 — 99.97 percentile — to get the highest rank. When asked about his success formula, he shared: “I worked hard on my weak topics, read NCERT books, didn’t miss a single lecture, distanced myself from the social media and studied for six to eight hours daily with one-hour breaks. Also, I never compromised on sleep and cleared all my doubts immediately.”

While Manav Bansal scored a 306.50 — 99.95 per cent — to secure the second rank, Riya Garg’s got 302.50 marks — 99.93 per cent — and scored the third position in the PCB.

Khyati Jain bagged the first rank in the PCM group with a whooping 288 marks and 99.97 per cent. “I was not specially preparing for the CET. It was just that I wanted to pursue a career in research so I gave the test. What helped me the most is my ongoing JEE preparation. Though the paper was easy, it was lengthy,” said Jain.

In the PCM category, Vidhita bagged the second position with 279 marks and 99.95 per cent, while Garima Goyal scored 275 marks and 99.92 per cent to secure the third position.

The topper of Maths group, Nitin Kaushik, scored 108.5 and 90.41 per cent. He said: “I studied maths for two to three hours. I solved NCERT, NCERT Exempler and JEE previous years problems. In the past few months, I timed my speed to solve one question per minute. That’s my strategy.” The runner-up of the maths group, Mansi Garg, scored 107.5 to get 89.58 per cent and Ashish Kumar stood third with 106.5 marks and 88.75 per cent.
