City bodybuilder Puneet Sandhu has won a bronze medal in the recently-held National Physique Championship Classic Olympia in Vietnam. Sandhu finished third in the 90kg category.
“The National Physique Championship is a gateway for bodybuilders to compete in the Olympia stage, which is held in Las Vegas annually,” said Sandhu. “I want to be at Las Vegas to prove India’s credibility in bodybuilding sport,” he added.
Sandhu credited his mother Kulbir Kaur and coach Som Tugnet for his feat.
“It was my first competition out of India. Earlier, I had participated in three different international championships, including the Sheru Classic International, in India. I follow a strict diet and spend almost eight hours in gym,” said Sandhu.
Besides winning Mr Mohali, Mr Chandigarh and Mr Punjab titles, Sandhu has also been a finalist at the Mr India Classic. “I have been consistently securing a place among the top bodybuilders of the country…I usually compete in the 100kg category,” said Sandhu.
