Punjab finish on top after Uday’s ton

Uday Pratap Saharan scored a sedate century after the second day's play was washed out to help Punjab gain a 138-run first innings lead against hosts Chandigarh on the third and final day of their U-16 Vijay Merchant Trophy match here today and secure three points for the visitors.
Starting the day on 106/4, in response to Chandigarh's first innings total of 69, Punjab declared their innings closed on 207/8.
Uday, who was batting on 39 on Wednesday, went on to score 103 runs. His 225-ball stay in the middle was studded with 15 boundaries.
Wicketkeeper batsman Sanraj Singh made 26 runs, while Mayank Gupta added 25 runs to the Punjab total. Skipper Manroop Singh chipped in with 21 runs.
Chandigarh in their second innings were struggling at 93/6 when the match ended.
The hosts' struggle with the bat continued as they lost half of their side for just 33 runs on board.
Arnav Bansal fell on four, while Aaryan Verma returned to pavilion on two. Rajveer Singh (9), captain Pratham Sodhi (0) and Kabir Kalsi (6) did not last long either.Paras scored a patient 51 before he was dismissed by Manroop Singh.
Neel Dhaliwal and Ansh Khosla remained not out on 16 and zero, respectively.
