The Punjab Government will develop a big pond in Gharuan village, near Kharar, as per its religious importance.
This was disclosed by Punjab Tourism and Cultural Affairs Minister Charanjit Singh Channi when he visited Pandav Jheel at Gharuan village in Kharar Tehsil on Tuesday. He was accompanied by Chief Engineer of the Tourism Department, Yogesh Gupta, and other officials.
Notably, this big pond is spread over 13 acres and is related to the Mahabharata period. It is said that all Pandav brothers stayed in this area after the Lakshagraha incident and even Ghatotkacha, son of Bhim, was born here.
“This lake will be developed as a tourist spot keeping in view its religious importance. Even now there are four temples located on the banks of the lake,” said Channi.
The minister asked officials of the Tourism Department to prepare a plan for the overall development of the spot in order to make it an attractive tourist spot.
