It took till the final quarter of the game for the next goal to come; Alsem Lakra scoring in the 49th minute to give Hockey Gangpur - Odisha the lead. Sarvanjit, though, converted a penalty corner in the 55th minute to help Punjab share the points.

Earlier in a Pool A match, Railway Sports Promotion Board (RSPB) blanked Uttar Pradesh Hockey 8-0.

A hat-trick by Yuvraj Walmiki and a brace by Malak Singh were enough for RSPB to bag three points.

In Pool C, The Mumbai Hockey Association Ltd rode on twin strikes from Rajendra Pawar (15th and 33rd) minute to beat Hockey Odisha 3-0.

Manpreet Singh added a goal to the Mumbai tally in the 29th minute.
