Effigies were put up at six places, which attracted a large number of people. The major site for celebrations in the township was an open ground in Phase 8 near the YPS Chowk. According to Madhu Bhushan, president of the Dasehra Committee, Mohali, more than one lakh persons turned up at the venue. The effigy of Ravana erected in the township was around 65-feet tall. Besides Ravana, Kumbhkaran and Meghnad, an effigy of terrorism was also burnt.

Bhushan said visitors to the Phase 8 venue, especially children, enjoyed kite flying. The kite was 21-feet long and it stayed aloft from 3 pm to 6 pm.
