Chandigarh, January 14
Vivek High School, Chandigarh, in association with the Chandigarh Traffic Police, organised a road safety awareness session on the school premises.
More than 800 students attended the session. Chief Marshal, Traffic Police, Wing Commander GS Grewal, explained to the students the need for road safety awareness and the role they could play in reducing the number of accidents on roads. He suggested the school authorities to teach road safety to students during assemblies, lunchtime, skits and other extra- curricular activities.
The traffic awareness team gave students an opportunity to learn many set of rules that are mandatory for driving and made it further interesting through skits. All students took a pledge to abide by the traffic rules.
“It’s important to help shape children’s understanding and attitude towards road safety while they are young and such sessions are helpful to create awareness,” Principal Renu Puri said.
