Ropar boys off to a winning start

CHANDIGARH:International Public School, Ropar, registered a 3-1 win over Moti Ram Arya School, Sector 27, in the boys' U-17 category on the opening day of the CBSE Cluster XVII Football Tournament here today.

International Public School, Ropar, registered a 3-1 win over Moti Ram Arya School, Sector 27, in the boys' U-17 category on the opening day of the CBSE Cluster XVII Football Tournament here today. 

Playing at St Soldier International School, Sector 28, Armaan, Mehakvir and Manjinder scored a goal each for the Ropar side, while Khushpreet netted the consolation goal for Moti Ram Arya School. 

Ankush, meanwhile, struck thrice to help New Public School, Sector 18, thrash Golden Earth School, Sangrur, 8-1. 

Aditya and Poon scored a brace each, while Tsewang struck once for New Public School. 

Guru Nanak Dev Public School, Muktsar, blanked Angles Valley School, Rajpura, 5-0. Tejinder Singh, Manmeet Singh, Tajveer, Vansh and Sourav Morya scored a goal each for the Muktsar school. 

Shishu Niketan, Sector 43, went down 3-4 to Vivek High School, Mohali. 

In the U-19 competition, Ryan International School, Sector 49, defeated Shemrock School, Mohali, 4-0. Tushar (13th, 15th) and Kunal (17th, 45th) scored a brace each for Ryan School.
