Rupal Sharma of Guru Nanak Mission Public School, Poanta Sahib, claimed dominated the 1,500m event of the girl’s U-19 category on the opening day of the CBSE Cluster XVIII Athletics Meet at the Sector 46 Sports Complex here today.

Rupal was followed by Harsimrat Kaur of The Scholar’s Home, Poanta Sahib, in second place, while Nandita Shreesh from CST, Dhlongi (Himachal Pradesh), claimed the third position. 

In the boys’ U-19 1,500m, Sachin Kumar of Rashtriya Military School, Chail, claimed the gold. Shubham Chander from Doon Valley Public School, Himachal Pradesh, won the silver medal, while Vivek Singh of Angel’s Public School, Pathankot, clinched the bronze medal.

In the girls’ U-17 category, Gagneet Kaur of Guru Nanak Mission Public School won the 1,500m gold. She was followed by Sonia Gupta of Doon Valley Public School, Nalagarh, in second place. Sheetal Kapri of CST Shimla was third.

Anand Vijay of Army School, Panchkula, meanwhile, claimed the 1,500m gold in the boys’ U-17 category. Akashdeep Singh of Mata Sahib Kaur Public School, Mohali, grabbed the silver medal, while Naman Rathour of Guru Nanak Mission Public School fetched the bronze. 

In the girls’ U-14 shot put, Akanksha of Doon Valley Public School, Nalagarh, finished first, followed by Dechen Dolma of CST Shimla in second place. Nishta Chaudhari of DC Montessori School claimed the third position. 

The boys’ U-14 shot put gold went to Sarabjit of Indian Public School, Ambala. Ayush Guleria of DAV Public School, Himachal Pradesh, claimed the silver medal, while Harish Thakur of Montessori Cambridge School, Himachal Pradesh, bagged the bronze.
