It was a proud moment for Rupinder Kaur, a student of the medical stream at Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Sohana, when she found her school and mediapersons giving her a lot of attention on her securing the first position in Mohali district. Rupinder got 94.67% marks.
Daughter of a two-wheeler mechanic, Rupinder Kaur wants to become a doctor in the Army and appeared for an examination today to seek admission to the Mai Bhago Armed Forces Preparatory Institute, Sector 66, here. She said she would also appear for the AFMC examination next year. Belonging to Khanpur Bangar village, near Banur, Rupinder stayed with her maternal grandmother in Bhagomajra village, so that she could attend her school.
She said it was her hard work and motivation from her schoolteachers that helped her excel in the examinations. Without taking any private tuition, she studied for about seven hours daily after attending school and used to put in about 12 hours during holidays.
Proud of Rupinder’s achievement, Usha Mahajan, Principal of the school, said no compromises were made in studies at the school and efforts were made to give the best to the students to help them fulfil their dreams.
