The play was staged by the Multi Art Cultural Centre, Kurukshetra, on the eighth day of the month-long 14th TFT Winter National Theatre Festival being jointly organised by Haryana Kala Parishad and the Union Ministry of Culture.

Written by Vasant Sabnis in Marathi as ‘Vichha Majhi Puri Kara’ and adapted in Hindi by Usha Banerjee, the play structured in royal state, flourished well under the direction of Sanjay Bhasin to delineate corruption and loose administration to favour kins.

The play depicted that none of the sycophant employees was serious about their service to the king and indulged in merry making. In a bid to befool the new ‘kotwal’, a kin of the king, Nainawati conspired to let the ‘kotwal’ down in the eyes of the ruler so as to marry her beloved ‘hawaldar’. The soothing musical spells, thrilling Laavni folk dances and immaculate acting augmented the production level.
