Sakshi, Abhijit bag Kishore Kumar trophy, cash award

Sur Sangam, a leading non-profitable group of artistes and art lovers, mostly medical professionals of Panchkula, engaged in the promotion of budding amateur singers by providing them a platform to showcase their talent for the past 17 years.
As part of the endeavour, 18th edition of the musical programme titled “Kishore Kumar Nite”, a live musical contest was held under the direction of Dr Pardeep Bhardwaj, president, Sur Sangam.
From among 150 prospective artistes, 20 singers, including 10 male and 10 female, from far-off places like Hisar, Amritsar, Ludhiana, Ambala, Karnal, Patiala and Sirhind participated in the final contest. Bureaucrat Ranju Sharma, SS Prasad, IAS (retd), Dr Anurag Sharma, Dr Rozy Aneja and Dr Pardeep Bhardwaj gave superlative performances in the non-contesting category.
Well-known music directors Atul Sharma and Sukhpal Sukh adjudged the competitors and declared winners.
The coveted Kishore Kumar trophy and cash prize of Rs 11,000 each was bagged by Sakshi Sharma and Abhijit Dulagh in the female and male category. Abhijit Dulagh also bagged the Kishore award. Runner-up trophies were won by Suman and Labhdeep Kaur, while junior runner-up trophies were won by Master Abhijit and Ravi Verma.
Chief guest Gian Chand Gupta, Speaker of the Haryana Legislative Assembly, lauded the efforts of Dr Pardeep Bhardwaj in promoting the budding singers and musical traditions. He announced a grant of Rs 1 lakh to Sur Sangam. — OC
